Food and Fit August 5th-motivation

TGIF!  I hope you’re all doing well 🙂

Although I have been off for the summer, I still enjoy having my weekends because it means I get to spend all my time with my hubby.  And I love our traditional coffee in bed-Saturday mornings 🙂Today was an off day for me.  I went grocery shopping (anyone else love grocery shopping as much as I do?  It’s seriously a little disconcerting how much I love it) and got some errands done early today.

I grabbed an iced coffee with 5 shots of espresso (cue wide-eyed emoji here) and didn’t feel great the rest of the day….hmmmm wonder why….???

I tried to be as productive as the past two days, but I just couldn’t get myself to do it #motivation.  I really didn’t have much to do, and when I don’t have a long list of to-dos, I get a little anxious because I’m not burning off all that energy…I’m definitely my dad’s daughter.  I have to be busy almost 24/7 or I’m not happy with myself.  It’s a problem haha. :-/Are any of you following my Food and Fit August Series Challenge??  If you need more info, you can check it out here 🙂

  • Starbucks venti iced americano with soy milk, extra shot and 1 pump caramel
  • 2 iced chocolate chai tea lattes at home with soy milk, one with 2 tbsp pb2
  • 5 dates with 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • chocolate chip cookie
  • Blackened salmon salad with mustard dressing
  • 2 chocolate chip cookies

***I did not feel great most of the day, mostly due to all the caffeine I drank, the lack of real food throughout the day, and the influx of CHOs… I don’t know what I was thinking but I wish I could have had a redo.  I decided to have a fun day today and usually that means having a few treats.  But these treats didn’t make me feel great and I will not be doing this again!  If I have too many CHOs combined with caffeine, I feel awful and my heart rate becomes irregular.  Oh well, I’ll know better next time.

***Yes, I occasionally have some type of fish or seafood.  I went 1 1/2 years being completely vegan but have recently reintroduced some seafood back into my diet.  I don’t do it all the time but it’s something I just do.  I have had really bad digestion the past several months before and after my dad died, and I know my body hasn’t been utilizing and absorbing the nutrients it needs because of this.  Animal protein and iron is better absorbed than plant protein  If a person’s health has been compromised like mine has or if they don’t get enough protein through plants (sometimes I forget to track, which is why I’m doing this challenge for myself), then getting it through this route is the wiser decision.  I don’t wish to do this all my life, and plan on cutting it back out as much as possible, but for right now I’m doing my best to gain my health back.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

  • no workout, as planned today.  My calves ended up being the most sore and I was planning on meeting friends later, and didn’t want to take another shower before….haha I know, I’m lazy.  So I decided not to.  Bad decision.  I would have felt better especially with all those CHOs but instead, I felt a little down.  It didn’t help that my period had started either. Ugh!

Today was just an off day for me, and I’m sure tomorrow will be better.  You just need to take one day at a time, and do the best you can.  It’s not always going to be perfect, but if you keep going you’ll get closer to the goals you want. What are you all doing this weekend??  Tim and I are painting our living room, downstairs bathroom, and hanging curtains.  He’s so excited haha.
