Food and Fit August 6th: Stay active on the weekends

Happy Saturday, y’all!

I’m writing this on Sunday morning as a recap, while sipping some coffee in bed.  I’m going to do my best to upload these posts the night of so you all can read about the previous day the next morning.  Try is the key word.  I usually have some type of snack or dessert before bed so I don’t want to neglect that in my posts, but that’s something I’m trying to cut back on; snacking close to bed.  So, we’ll see 🙂

What did you all do on Saturday?

Hubby and I painting our living room a blue-isa-gray color.  It’s called storm cloud by Sherwin Williams and we have it in our bedroom, too.  I think it looks great!   I love a fresh new coat of paint, it really brightens up and changes a room just enough…and it’s pretty cheap.

It took us about 3-4 hours since its such a large room, but we had fun doing it.  We were tired after cleaning up and I almost skipped a workout….almost.

See, today in my Food and Fit August Series challenge today was supposed to be a rest day, but I took one unexpectedly yesterday so I decided to switch things around.  I usually kick the workouts on the weekends but I hate the feeling of being inactive.  It’s so important to keep moving, even on the weekends for me.  No crazy workouts needed!  Just a quick 15-20 minute session and you’re good to go.  See below for my workout 🙂

  • coffee!!
  • 7 dates and 1 1/2 tbsp peanut butter
  • hot dogs: 2 Smart Life Vegan hot dogs and 2 buns topped with sauerkraut, dill pickles, tomatoes, red onion, ketchup, mustard, chia seeds, and cayenne pepper (I love loaded hot dogs!), 2 cups steamed and cuban seasoned broccoli, green beans, and mushrooms, 1 cup Bush’s vegetarian baked beans, 2 servings kettle cooked chips, 2 Coors beers.
  • 3 chocolate chip cookies
  • TONS of water!  One thing I don’t mention in my food diaries is how much water I drink.  I don’t track but I am constantly slurping down water all day.  I might die in 20 minutes if ever I am stranded without water…   I estimate about a gallon or more per day.  I flavor mine with lemon or lime, and I love to add it to a tumbler with ice and straw.  It makes it not-so-boring.

***I was so tired after drinking the beer that I may not do that again.  I was so busy during the day I didn’t really stop to eat so I ate a lot for dinner, which I love to do.  However, this may have been a little too much in one sitting because I was so sleepy for the rest of the night.

  • I ended up doing a circuit routine but canned the sprints since I was at home and there are no safe places to sprint without getting hit by a car.  I followed Friday’s planned workout which was sumo squats, deadlifts, high knees, supermans, and butterfly kicks for 3 rounds.  I added scissor kicks and stretching afterwards since my calves are still so sore from the other day!!  It took me around 15-20 minutes but this was perfect since I was active all morning.

***I foam-rolled the rest of the evening because of my sore calves.  I spent a good portion of our movie watching time on the floor stretching and rolling.  I love the feeling of being sore, but this was a little too sore.  When it hurts to walk up or down the stairs, I don’t like it.

So how are you all doing??

Have you done anything fun or exciting this past week?  What about the next few weeks?  I’d love to hear about what you’re doing and your plans or goals.

If you’re not following my Food and Fit August Series challenge, what are you waiting for???  You can still follow along-there’s plenty of August left and it’s really simple to jump right in.  You can check out the details, here.

Thanks for hanging out with me!!  For the rest of the day I plan on relaxing, and maybe do a little painting and grabbing some iced coffee.  What are you doing today?
